What Are The Benefits?

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is based on a concept of balanced vital energy, that is believed to flow throughout the body. The various treatments we offer within Traditional Chinese Medicine assist in regulating a person’s spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical balance.

Treatments

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an incredibly safe, PAINLESS, and effective way to improve overall health. Tiny, hair thin needles are placed on the body to balance your natural energy as well as treat and prevent several medical conditions.

Key Benefits

Acupuncture therapy can treat many health conditions by helping the body release endorphins and regulate serotinin, which are key in allowing the natural flow of energy in the body.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping is a type of alternative therapy that originated in China. It involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. The suction may facilitate healing with blood flow.

It increases blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed. This may relieve muscle tension, which can improve overall blood flow and promote cell repair. It may also help form new connective tissues and create new blood vessels in the tissue.

Many Taoists believe that cupping helps balance yin and yang, or the negative and positive, within the body. Restoring balance between these two extremes is thought to help with the body’s resistance to pathogens as well as its ability to increase blood flow and reduce pain.

Key Benefits

  • Increase blood flow.
  • Reduce Pain.
  • Balance yin and yang (negative and positive, within the body).

Gua Sha Therapy

Gua Sha is a Traditional Chinese healing method in which a trained professional uses a smooth-edged tool to stroke your skin while they press on it. This motion raises small, red, rash-like dots that show under your skin called petechiae. People use Gua Sha to treat chronic pain all over their body. They often do it alongside other complementary treatments like herbal medicine, massage, acupuncture, and heat therapy.

This process is believed to help blood flow and create a “lifting” effect on your skin, which some say may help lessen toxins in your body and promote healing. You might also have Gua Sha done on your face, but that process would be gentler.

Key Benefits

Can be helpful for some conditions, including:

  • Hepatitis B
  • Migraines
  • Muscle Pains
  • Perimenopausal Symptoms

  • What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?

Traditional Chinese Medicine aims to restore the body's balance and harmony between the natural opposing forces of yin and yang, which can block qi and cause disease. ... Traditional Chinese Medicine includes Acupuncture, Herbal Therapy, Gua Sha, Cupping, meditation, physical exercise, Tui Na massage and other modalities.

  • What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is one of the main forms of treatment in traditional Chinese medicine. It is a procedure that uses tiny needles inserted into the skin to help balance a person’s energy. The needles are inserted at specific locations along the patient’s body that align with energy points. This triggers the body’s natural healing capabilities, helping restore balance to both the mind and body. This process is believed to adjust the body’s energy flow into healthier patterns and is used to treat a wide variety of illnesses and health conditions.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends acupuncture as an effective treatment for over forty medical problems, including allergies, respiratory conditions, gastrointestinal disorders, nervous conditions, and disorders of the eyes, nose, and throat. Acupuncture has also been used in the treatment of alcoholism and substance abuse. It is an effective and low-cost treatment for headaches and chronic pain associated with back injuries and arthritis. It has also been used to supplement invasive Western treatments like chemotherapy and surgery. Acupuncture is most effective when used as prevention or before a health condition becomes acute, but it can also provide benefits to patients with conditions like cancer and AIDS.

  • What are common ailments treated with Acupuncture?

One of the main focuses of Acupuncture treatment is the reduction of pain and improvement of overall health. It may be used to reduce pain after surgery or medical and dental treatments. Patients with chronic headaches and migraines can also greatly benefit from acupuncture treatment, and it is commonly used for muscle and back pain, stress relief and overall wellness. Patients with neurological conditions also report relief after acupuncture treatments.

  • What are some of the benefits of Acupuncture?

It can reduce stress, reduce back and joint pain, headache relief, improve eye health, mental clarity, reduce symptoms of neurological disorders, reduce an individual’s risk of falling ill, fewer digestive problems, increased energy, better sleep, relief from allergies, controlling blood pressure, enhancing fertility and improve healing after medical procedures, to name a few.

  • Are there any side effects of Acupuncture?

The risks of Acupuncture are low if you have a competent, certified acupuncture practitioner using sterile needles. Common side effects include soreness and minor bleeding or bruising where the needles were inserted. Single-use, disposable needles are now the practice standard, so the risk of infection is minimal to nonexistent. Can you feel worse after acupuncture?

Other side effects of acupuncture that are less welcome are: Sometimes following acupuncture, some feel worse before they start feeling better. People can feel tired after acupuncture, but a more common result is increased energy. Some people find that the symptoms of their condition, or illness, temporarily worsen, or 'flare-up'. Some people also experience sweating, dizziness, and feel faint. These effects are usually short-lasting and pass within a few hours.

  • How long is a treatment?

On average it is 1 hour, but it can be shorter or longer depending on what the Doctor is treating you for.

  • Is Acupuncture covered by insurance?

Acupuncture insurance coverage is a common question. Many insurance plans offer coverage for acupuncture treatment. Contact your insurance company directly to find out if your plan covers acupuncture and any limits to the number of treatments its covers. Acupuncture may also be covered if you sustained a workplace injury or were injured in a motor vehicle accident.
