Reflexology

    About Reflexology

Reflexology is an integrative method that helps to restore your physical and energetic well-being through your feet and legs. It is a treatment that is performed on hands, face, ears, but most commonly the feet using pressure point therapies and can include alternative forms of massage.

Reflexology is not a foot massage. While it can be relaxing, a Reflexologist studies your feet to assess the holistic health of your physical and energetic body to create an individualized treatment plan to help send healthy, powerful signals to your internal structures. Each foot protocol helps to stimulate your body’s systems to support your health; relieving you of irritable symptoms of a condition or ailment. The feet are maps of your entire life and stories and with a reflexology treatment, we can help improve your lifestyle by clearing energetic debris from your meridians, move lymph and trigger your nervous system to reclaim balance in your life.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    • What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a method of promoting wellness and fighting disease through the application of pressure, sometimes on the hands and ears, but most commonly on the feet. It is based on the premise that channels of energy flow from the different parts of the body to corresponding areas on the feet. When those channels of energy become blocked by physical or mental stress, we become ill. By applying pressure to the reflex points on the feet, we clear the blockages and promote healthy functioning in the corresponding organ or system in the body.

    • What are the benefits?

One of the factors that makes reflexology such an effective treatment is that anybody can receive it, from pregnant women and newborn babies to elderly people and those with disabilities. It offers numerous benefits, including the following:

      • It improves the functioning of the central nervous system, reducing stress and promoting a general sense of overall wellbeing
      • It provides relief from some of the symptoms of mental illness, including depression and anxiety
      • It promotes relaxation and sleep
      • It enhances the functioning of the respiratory, digestive, and musculoskeletal systems
      • It can be a valuable component of palliative care in people with terminal illnesses
      • It flushes toxins out of the body and helps regulate the metabolism
      • It can relieve the aches and pains experienced by pregnant women as their bodies change
      • It is sometimes used as a relaxation tool to assist people about to undergo surgery
    • How Frequently do I need treatment?

Weekly sessions are recommended to see results. After receiving a holistic health assessment from your introductory session, you may be provided a 3-8 week reflexology treatment plan to reduce particular symptoms and provide relaxation. A breath regulating treatment plan can range from 3-10 weeks depending on the individual.

    • How long are Reflexology sessions?

      Sessions begin at 60 minutes.

    • What safety precautions are taken?

If you are experiencing cold or flu symptoms, please call the center and let us know at least 24 hours before your appointment. We may need to reschedule your appointment.

    • What are the contraindications to Reflexology?

If you are undergoing chemotherapy treatment, have deep vein thrombosis, have had a recent open heart surgery in the last 6 months, are 7+ months pregnant, have open skin lesions, have a heart pacemaker implant we advise that you speak with your general physician and supporting care professionals.

    • Can I receive reflexology if I am pregnant?

Yes, you may receive treatment, but only until your seventh month begins.

    • Are there any side effects to this type of treatment?

You may experience clearing of sinus and detoxification after treatment. Please ground, nourish your body and drink water throughout the remainder of your day.

    • How should I prepare myself for a session?

Please shower before coming in for your session. You will be asked to remove your socks and shoes and lay on the massage table. This is relaxing so dress comfortably. The body oils will leave your feeling nourished and your feet feeling hydrated.

    • How should I expect to feel after my session?

People commonly feel relieved, relaxed, heightened with energy and leave being grounded, ‘in their bodies’ and with brain clarity. This depends on what your body needs.

    • Does Reflexology hurt?

Due to ingrown toenails, hardened skin tissue, muscle spasms, fluid retention and internal inflammation and ailment, some people experience some sensations in their feet during the treatment. In our case, applying pressure to certain points on the feet helps to shift and restore energetic signals to your body to help treat it. Therapeutic massages are incorporated to help relieve your feet and legs of any tension throughout the treatment.

    • What should I wear when I have a session?

Dress comfortably. If you’d like to change into a robe when you enter your room, you may do so as we also treat clients who may be coming in after a long day of work and errands.

    • Will the body oils and butters leave my feet feeling oily?

Not at all. Our body butters are meant to hydrate and soften the skin.

    • What is Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage?

A specialized massage technique targeting cellulite reduction, body

contouring, and detoxifying by stimulating the lymphatic system.

    • What are the benefits of Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage?

Improved circulation, reduced swelling, detoxification, cellulite reduction, and enhanced skin tone.

    • How long do sessions last, and how many are recommended?

    • Is Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage suitable for everyone?

Generally safe, but consult with a practitioner, especially if pregnant or with medical conditions.

    • What can I expect during a Buccal Facial Massage session?

During the session, a trained therapist will use gentle massage techniques both externally and internally (inside the mouth) to target specific facial muscles. This may result in a relaxed sensation, improved facial contours, and a refreshed

      appearance.
